First Dlc. Ripoff?

Recommended Posts

Glad to see that this is not only mine opinion. Let me explain my frustration further to answer some of the criticism.

I know the contents of the DLC's was known before. Here's info of the first DLC:

Cuisine & Cargo is apparently "available exclusively as a part of the Season Pass offer" and comes with two hardcore missions that task players with exploring two buildings sealed off in the first days of the outbreak, one being a restaurant, the other a loading bay.

I paid this extra 20, because i wanted to, of course! But how come this is kind of a risk, when devs might just say: "ha-ha, we chupacabra'd you, sucker!". Is this what Techland aiming for? Because "two missions [...] with exploring two buildings sealed off in the first..." could be anything. From a press of a button "Explore", and getting your exp instantly, to a memorable mission with ohhh, i don't know... STORY (even a written one, or is this too hard?), which takes at least some effort to make and pleasure to participate. What we got is closer to a button. I merely saying that this is a dark and disrespectful way for a developer. Yet again some players love being treated like this, and it's their choice.

My only hope that next DLC which comes in March, "with three special outfits and four blueprints for new "over-the-top weapons"", will contain NOT green-quality blueprints for a floor plank. "It's over the top, but it's for a floor plank, isn't this great?! Here's over the top poison mod for a pipe! Aren't you not happy now?!"

And i'm glad people here and on Steam forums decide not to buy Season Pass. Chupacabra'd me for 20$, i'll do my best to inform people of your chupacabring so they could make an informed decision.

No silver spoons here.I run my own business..and started from nothing

so I know what a dollar bill means.

I'm just saying that 60 for the base game isn't breaking the bank.

And the game is worth that..even with issues that will soon be fixed.

On a side note first weeks sales were 1.2 million copies...that's about 72 million dollars first week...still hasn't dropped in over seas markets yet.

I would imagine at least 60% of that revenue is getting them back out of the red and into some profit.. I would hope

And givin that 1.2 million people have the game and let's say 2000 people have issues..that's still like .00001%

I'm guessing most people that have issues would be checking out their site for answers and I bet there is possibly 200 people on here that's complained?

By all statistics those numbers are fantastic.

I paid 38€ for the game, so 20€ for 2 quarantine zones, a few skins and a horde mode... for me is very expensive. That kind of "hardcore" content in other companies are free. So I won't buy season pass.

Welcome to the year 2015, you must be new here.

I'm curious about your view on the rest of the content, horde mode hasn't even been released yet and you are calling it a ripoff... In similar news the 2025 Olympics are a huge letdown.

Let me repeat what i said earlier - first DLC is nothing. Two quarantine missions (they seem made prior to release and then cut from the game to sell separately) is a ripoff. Give the community proper tools and every schoolboy from age 8 will make this kind of DLC.

And about Olympics - again, please read closely: "i hope the rest of DLC will have a lot more useful content."

Anyway TheShift, looks like u landed on your feet somehow, but still doesn't defeat the fact that your talking about something else and not the topic. ALL OF US HERE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SEASON PASS AND NOT THE GAME, IM PRETTY SURE THAT EVERYONE LOVES THE GAME.  lol, I'd love to look at your books sometime with those imaginary numbers you managed to come up with, I'm pretty sure that from sales of 1.2mil sold copies that there are more than 2,000 customers with a problem, but hey, I don't have my own business or think that money is easy to come by.

It was speculation on the number of people with problems

and people that don't like the content..for the money.

so it is relevant to the topic at hand.

be it the game or the dlc.

And I was speculating because even if it was 200k people with an issue..it's still good numbers

End of threadjack.if you say so.

So your talking chupacabra and still talking your way through the game argument but ok.

So how is it relevant? and where is your source to prove the numbers? and are those numbers to do with the game, performance, season pass content or just made up

TBH I think your running up your post count to feel important at something.  I can understand brown nosing for self-preservation, but brown nosing for no reason or to pay more in the future really sucks and you would have to have the arse on the end of your nose not to see that this 1st dlc was in the game and to short, the 2nd will be the extra content from combined offers that were pre-order bonuses. BUT, lets all hope the 3rd dlc will be the bread and butter of the season pass.

I pre-ordered my season pass just like my PS4 game. I already put in my code, so why doesn't it show up as part of my PSN account and why did I not have access to any of the first DLC content today?!!?

Please someone involved in customer service from the game actually respond!!!

Well, I don't agree with you on this and still stand on my last post that your only interested in increasing ur post count, TBH u haven't had an argument since before ur 1st post and a shame we couldn't meet face to face to discuss this bcos I think u would still lose in that situation.  I don't mind discussing in forums but when u just out right lie (misinformation to present a fact that you know you made up), well to me that is manipulating the real facts and that isn't right.

No worries fella, everyone knows now....

I think you need to re-read your first post.

you complained about 20 for the dlc to expensive.

I stated the fact that some people think 60/20 is a lot of money.

which its not.

I threw in actual sells figures..

and from the amount of people here, guessed a number equaling the problems.(which most people, including me,I was just guessing

Then.

You got butt hurt..cuz you felt I was singling you out over the money issue.

which I wasnt.

Then since you took it personal.

you decide to come at my intelligence

Which is childish

Please move on to something else.

Got a good website you can go to..if you got deeper..more underlying issues.

looool,

Love that you've picked random numbers out of thin air as if anyone thinks you know chupacabra.

I've had loads of issues with my game and the terrible service off techland and from what I can tell, many, many more people would b having trouble with this game. Its total garbage and I'm getting my money back.

As for people like you and your "random-number-know-it-all", go talk to some kids who will listen to you and believe the garbage you talk...

Also just because you "run your own business" doesn't mean much. I'm broke as chupacabra and £65 (yes, £65, not dollars, that works out at about $90) for a game I have been waiting for for the past year, that has this many issues. Just ridiculous. I paid for a game. Not a work in progress. I expect it to be working first day. Not to have to wait for companies like techland to fix it in the weeks following its failure of a release. Its this culture of buying a game without waiting for reviews, etc that has got us to this point. I for one will not be purchasing another game from techland.

Out.

£65 for someone like me with a weekly income of £165 without bills taken off, really does break the bang, or at least close to it.

Well, you don't have to buy it. Techland annonced what the season pass will contain. Every season pass is only fan service. If your are a big fan of the game than maybe it's worth for you. The season pass is not Dying Light 1.5!

This.

That's exactly how I see it.  I've never bought DLC or a season pass for ANY game to date - even games I love.  I'm good with the amount of content in-game & when I'm done, I'm done.  The End.

With that said, I can see how something taking someone less than 1/2 hour can feel like a rip off but still, you can blow $20 in an instant at any Casino on 1 bet and it's gone.  It's all relative.  & maybe it takes a more moderate gamer longer to play the  areas?  They probly feel they get more for their $$.

Just please stop buying extra content if all you do is whine about what you get.

If money is an issue to someone, the last thing they should be doing is blowing it on DLC/Season Passes if they're already paying top dollar for a game at release.   Necessities in life should take priority.

Over the past few years, I've had to wait months to play games bcuz I couldn't afford them till a price drop.  I don't feel sorry for people claiming they're broke when they buy *optional* added content on top of the game itself.  I've struggled financially for a long time and haven't had the $$ to even consider DLC/SP's.

Can't we call get along? lol People are way to sensitive these days. What's next, is someone going to threaten to sue?

As someone once mentioned, other companies have set the bar pretty high for their DLC. Each company is different and they offer what they think is of value. If you, the customer do not think it is worth the money, don't buy it. It's that simple. Not all companies are going to provide 20 plus hours of extra content for $20.00. From a buyers standpoint, I waited until the reviews on the content came out for what was being provided on the DLC. At this point, I am going to wait until the full DLC package is out and make my decision at that point if I feel it is worth the money or not. Also keep in mind the DLC content Techland has released on their past games and compare that to what is currently being offered. It should give you some idea what to expect from this developer.

Thing is many dlcs we are seen nowadays are quite good or at least what one expects of it, take Assassins creed Unity dlc dead kings, it offers good ammount of gameplay, farcry 4 dlc missions also take a while to finish. Thats just to name a few, doing small side missions feels like a rip off even to fans

I didn't check out FC4 forums/reviews at all yet since I'm so backlogged w/ games at this point - still haven't gotten to that gem yet but it's my plan right after DL.  As for AC, I usually see all kinds of complaints even about aspects of their DLC - I see it for generally every game companies put it out for.  That's why I just made my comment.  Honestly it does look sometimes like people are just whine-happy & no gamers can be pleased.  We all know that nothing can be perfect but in reading alot of official forums, you'de think the games are a total fail by the negative, nasty thread topics.

I just feel bad for gaming companies anymore.

But I still stand by my comment about people complaining about cost of game Xtras when they don't have much $$.  I just don't have any sympathy where that's concerned due to what I have gone without for years in this hobby.  =)

Cuisine and Cargo is worthless. There's no content, there's no plot, there's no reward (except for exp, idk, i'm max lvl), average time on completing this two quarantine zones is 5 mins. This is unacceptable. This isn't worth 1/3 of 20$ we paid for Season Pass.

Would like to hear from devs and players about it. Do you really think that this is a DLC? Not free two missions, made by level designer in 20 mins? Am i wrong? Or right?

I completely agree.

I bought the Ultimate edition because I had been looking forward to this game for a long time, and I thought 20$ sounded like a bargain for something that could extend the game. I love the game, but I really wish I would have just gotten the regular edition instead and saved the extra cash.

Im still hoping that the Season pass content they have announced so far is just the beginning and more will be announced later, but it doesn't really sound like that is the case (I know they said there would be some free content later, but that doesn't really help the fact that the season pass is a major rip-off)

I'm probably gona get blow back for this.

but wtfe

First off..yes there was some issues with the game at launch.although I haven't had any.it's to be expected ..always has

Imo

we all got a 60 dollar game.

we all got 20 dollar dlc

Your talking a total of 80 bux worth of content..and amazing content at that.

Most of you act like 60 bux is a bunch of money..

60$ isn't a lot for a full game. (I usually pay closer to 80-90$ per game here in Denmark)

20$ is around 15+$ too much for the amount of content the season pass adds to the game though.

To be honest the season pass sounded a bit rubbish...

A horde mode? Doesn't interest me...

I just want the outfits... And more missions... So I bought cargo and cuisine... But now I'm hearing these 2 mission are chupacabra?

GIVE ANOTHER EXPANSION PACK LIKE RIPTIDE...

I love this game, I'm just hungry for more content and a HARDCORE MODE difficulty setting!!

really? I been waiting a year for this game.... The full 12 months, that way I could put money aside for the ultimate edition. I had to cut back on my food budget, eating absolute chupacabra to be able to afford this console and DL. I have been able to buy 2 games in the last year, one of which was £10, one was about £20... You can't really judge how players that are passionate about a game use their money. I've virtually starved myself since new year in order to enjoy this.

And you know what? I have never spent money on a single thing that has been such a complete waste of money. This console AND the game.... I don't know which ones worse tbh... This is where developers have come.... Releasing consoles before they're really ready, trying to rush them out to stop their customers going to their competition... Game devs are in a place where they can release substandard games that need fixing (you might remember older generation games never had these problems. If you had an issue you'd take it back for a refund?) They release dlc that's worthless... Because people like me are stupid enough to make this mistake.... You can't really blame someone for buying "*optional*" dlc.there a million different reasons at play but the point is the lc for this game is shocking and I don't see it improving with the second and third drop.... Just my opinion
