BtZ: A Proposal/Gift to Developers.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've finally decided to come here to explain the current state of Dying Light. More specificially: BTZ (Be The Zombie). And how it can be saved.

As most of you already know/should have noticed: Dying Light has no active developement. They are focusing on Bad Blood and Dying Light 2.

We, as a small BTZ Community, all play this game or had played for all the same enjoyment of BTZ.

With no active developement nor developers this is hard to maintain playerbase. But that's why i've come here today. To tell everyone that i want to help this game more "competitive".

Over the past 3/4 months i have been reworking and updating the game with all kinds of players (Omni, LucasK, Noviex, Nubling, Hank J. Wimbleton, CartierC, the list goes on) to make the game into a better place. To make our community bigger; but also bring back enjoyment for everyone.

Furthermore, features that people asked for a long time ago is also what i brought in. I know what i'm doing right now is late in the developement cycle. But still, i believe that we can make it together: i just need help if the developers actually approve this.

I'll write some features that people will expect:

- Weapon Variety: Guns, Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns have all been reworked so that they also can be of use. I miss having variety in terms of weapon equipement in such a expanded game of weapons. I want players to choose their own playstyle, which is what i'm creating.

- Equipment Variety: As sais above, this should count for equipement items aswell. Things like speed boosters, resistance boosters and stamina boosters are usefull now.

- Autobalance: Removed. This is something that people wished to be removed, simply because the system handicaps survivors and hunters for playing at a bad hand.

- Camera changes: Removed. For the looks, getting kills with the zoom in and slow motion and all looks really cool, but in a BTZ enviroment this doesn't take place. So i removed them.

- Magnets: Also a long time suggestion from people: I personally was also against this feature, so i don't see a reason why not. Having magnets for fall dampening is out of place for a fast-paced game.

- Sense Spit: I completely reworked this spit. A lot of people in the community asked for this. Sense Spit was a cool concept: but it isn't really affective. Spits should be something to watch out for: this spit was not the case. Thus, the rework.

- Melee Variety: Heavy weapons, Knives, Heavy One Handed Weapons and one handed weapons are all adjusted. Heavy Weapons get a damage reduction, as well as the one handed's. But the knives and heavy one-handed weapons get a buff. Every weapon has a different meaning this way.

So, there's a lot more i could list up, but that's not what i came to say only.

Would each and all of you would like to see a upcoming update like this? Do you want to see a new meta in Dying Light? Do you want Dying Light to be updated? Do you want to enjoy BTZ again in a different experience?

I'm leaving the chance to all of you in the comments. I contacted a lot of developers already about this concept: but i am a sole person suggesting this: so i need the help, support and votes for people that want this to become true. More voices is better than one.

So let me know what you people think.

@James Gallagher @Pete Donnelly this is a chance for you developers to take. But i've taken each day the time to make this game into a better place.

I sincerely hope that this will happen, but once again i need help from all of you people.

Best Regards,

- Fear.

Absolutely, I would love to see this as an actual update. Ever since day one of this mod you have worked effortlessly each and every single day and the payoff is ten times worth than what the vanilla Dying Light is. Vanilla caters to Night Hunters as the slightest loss makes him regenerate utility faster to where both newbies abuse this in the wrong way and Veterans can exploit this to death. This mod's removal of autobalance makes it so that if I get a kill it is fair. Many weapons and tools have been revamped to the point where everyone has a different load-out instead of players using the same thing over and over. No words can't describe everything else in this mod other than amazing. I would hope that some mechanics from Bad Blood are implemented in regular Dying Light as well. Otherwise keep up the good work.

I tried the Mod and i have to say it's so much better than the vanilla Dying light, no autobalance ( which is fair and great) guns became useful, many new loadouts and ways against the night hunter, the new knockback spit instead of the useless sense spit, new weapons/ crane skins too, etc... They all made a huge impact on the pvp experience and made it more fun and interesting, Techland should definitely apply this Mod in the game.

With almost 2000 hours of PVP in this game, the pvp experience with Fear's MOD is by far the most fun I've had in a while in this game in years. Gameplay is much faster and more intense. The reworks to the hunter make him a much more potent threat, but not impossible to kill. While I don't dislike vanilla entirely (there are some things I absolutely hate though like auto balance), I definitely prefer playing the mod than vanilla. This mod is amazing and implementing it into the actual game will make competitive gameplay much more enjoyable X100

Techland please listen to Fear, he's doing great things for the community.

In General

I've seen this version of the game by 1st hand i've been playtesting with Fear from almost day 1 and comparing DLR to normal btz its a night and day diffrence. Vanillia BTZ feels so unfair and full of unworthy deaths/kills with things like autobalance, which rewards a player for playing bad (take in mind that this can be exploited so that the hunter/human can abuse the benefits of autobalance activating) and exploits that both human and hunter players abuse (e.g backslide, animation cancel, speed exploit and even more) and with a combination of bugs and glitches it creates a really negative atmosphere and after a while the game starts to feel so punishing and straight up boring because of the luck of variety that the game has

Balancing

For a one man developing team he did an amazing work at balancing the game. DLR compared to vanillia, feels competive and fair, nothing is overpowered and everything has a counter meaning that the game shows the true skill and knowledge of the player and as he had limited resources and time he tried to also patch as many gamebreaking exploits as possible (e.g. Healing glitch, a glitch that allows the human to heal with at a much higher rate than normal without touching any game files). Him being a veteran player with an incredible game knowledge and with a combination of a big amount of playtesters  with all types of experience from newplayers to other veterans helped to shape the game to something competive thats being also incredibly fun which is something really necessary for people to keep play the game.

Variety (PvP)

An experienced survivor in vanillia DL knows that certain loadouts are just superior to other and just overshine every item in the game (e.g. always running night hunter boosters or always using khopeshes crossbows and sometimes two handed weapons) this results in the game being barren and unintersting to grind the long skill gap that players tend to have. DLR brings so many new options as Fear mentioned firearms are now worthwhile and finally the human has a greater variety in terms of boosters, weapons have been give specialisation that actually work (e.g a heavy one hander  is better at killing the hunter or knives are dedicated nest destroyers) the hunter has been given a fully reworked spit that brings to the table so many new tactics that a hunter  can apply on every mode. I've been playing dying light since late 2016 and i've never seen such variety in terms of loadouts i was even suprised to see myself using something else than a khopesh and 2 crossbows. As a result all of these changes it leads to a greater replayability something great for every game

Variety (PvE)

This rebuild may be pvp focused but it sure didnt let pve out of the equation Fear brought back many weapons like Tribal Machete, Knife and Hammer which personally i dont even know why they werent even in the base game. He made new weapon blueprints that players can get from The following that further increase the variety. He brought back more outfits and even created his own commuinity event called Hellfire and required the player to kill zombies with fire and rewarding the players with a unique blueprint and outfit  and having a more balanced and fun version of hypermode for the PvP players overall there is so much variety that one can not  descibe.

Leveling/Skill-trees

Last but not least there have been changes to the skill trees for balancing reassons and for some new skills to be added with such changes he managed to make exploits like 100HP unusable and simultaneously enchancing the choises that someone could make these leads to a much smoother pvp and pve experience

Conclussion

I dont see any reason why this shouldnt be part of the game so many things have been changed and its just a breath of fresh air that this game badly needs as i said its well balanced and just mad fun many of the pro players who played this higly enjoyed it but the most important thing is that you have a higly motivated and passionated person hard working on this all day and i would like to see his work and dream become a reallity its just a must have for the game

I stopped playing months ago but after trying @Fear. pack, I can say the game was very much enjoyable than it's current state @James Gallagher @Pete Donnelly

I was actually impressed with a lot of changes he did, for NH and Survivor both became a lot more balanced. BTZ gameplay has the potential to be a lot better than it is, the reason I stopped playing was because of the small player base and unbalance. This game has the potential to become a lot more than it is, devs just need to get right with it. Perhaps taking consideration for DL2. ;)

Even tho i didn't like few changes in DLR overall i would like to see it as an actual update for the game. I won't talk how great it is and so on, i'll just say:

The game finally feels like it requieres actual skill and knowledge in game rather than trying the same technique over and over untill it will eventually succeed.

I've played with rebuild with Fear and his friends and i have got to say the balancing in this mod is really well done! and fixes all the problems with BTZ currently.

Also i since Techland is working on DL2 and DL:BB i really think that DL should just be handed to the community all community made updates, events and content would be pretty epic and will make DL last much longer. This will also make all the people who cant run DL2 really happy so :D

overall i think the rebuild is excellent and should be added into Dying Light.:D

 Cordialement, Odin.

Hi everyone. I want to try this mod really hard like you guys, but I have no clue how to do it. I used to play this game a few years ago but I never experencied the PVP, I just tried it recently and I looooove it. I watched some videos too but I don't want to be hyped for a game who is totally not balanced (night hunter is weak as I understood, but still I need to see more by myself). If someone could teach me how to install the mod of this guy, FEAR, you'd be awesome !

I'm glad to see this game isn't dead too ! I was really surprised when someone invaded me for the first time

The Dying Light rebuild is an extremely well made mod, Fear has put alot of time into this game and The Dying Light rebuild. Many Players who have playtested it have already expressed their positivity and support for it into becoming a fully fledged update into the game. This includes myself who recently tested, The rebuild brings so much more to Be The Zombie and removes the issues from it that Players have been addressing for a long time. This Rebuild is the future of BTZ as at the moment Vanilla is still unbalanced in many ways and for Players who care for the game, It is frustrating to see and experience.

The mod is a must for the future of Be The Zombie
