Hey there, I have been working on a map for quite some time now and I just wanted to show some of it. It isn't much yet, but at least I could ask for some help, like ideas or types of houses, and maybe even little details that have to be added to the map.

The map will be released when it's a 100% finished!

Also, the map won't be done soon. Progress is slow but steady. My English sucks, I know.

For now there are two pictures of my map of two different houses, but trust me, there will be at least fifteen more. Just don't know when :D.

Every single house in the neighborhood will be enterable, but not every room due to bushes, you'll see soon. Also in every house there's something for the player to pick up and put in their inventories. It goes from snacks to heavy firearms. Don't know if they're really Heavy heavy but they'll be strong. Buggies will be spawned in as soon as you play the map and you can use it (Like you didn't know it yet..) to drive all the way to the other side of the map. Believe me, it's worth it taking the buggy. Although walking there is way more fun and challenging. But that's for you to decide.

That's it for now, hope you guys will enjoy it and hopefully play it!

(And yes, there's way more than just these two houses, I just had taken two pictures for now so I could at least show some progress)

This will keep me working... only 1% of the interior is done, which is just the walls on the 1st floor... Once this map will be finished it sure will be a place to go as someone more transparent is waiting for your personal visit.

The biggest house is getting closer to completion. If it is i'll move on to the other houses to come and then the furniture proces will start. If the entire neighborhood is done i'll move on to the first part I started with and start polishing. Then I'll me moving on to some unfinished buildings and may be adding some more interiors like: Shops 'n stores, fully accessible appartments, underground sewers here and there and maybe just maybe more than 50% of the rooms of the huge tower that's planned to come in the center of the map will be accessible. If not the 50%, just 25% with full roof access and a cable from several cranes scatered around the map just to get you the nicest views from above. Making these cranes fully accessible means I will have to make quite some scenery that won't be accessible but visible when standing on top of a crane or buidling, to prevent the player to be able to either jump out of the map or view the endless pit of whatever you'd like to call it.

It all comes down to one thing: I will and I must finish the map and show I actually care about details, alot. Not historical details when talking about this map but details of glitched walls or bugged out corners you'd be able to look through. It's something I don't want to happen. So please understand this map takes time and I am actually taking this time. No it's not a map getting done within a few days as I have to make things up, brainstorm about what's coming and look at more than hundreds of different concept arts i've made over the previous days and before I started working on this map.

I know there's just no-one looking on this page or paying any kind of attention here which hey, not your fault not mine, it isn't even a fault but a bummer. I would love to get some tips and ideas on what else to add and where.

Thanks for your attention if you did read all this and you like the map for how it looks like now. Let's finish it :) I'll keep this post updated even though there's noone looking or maybe just one or two, no matter what, it will be updated as soon as there are either usefull updates to post or big changes made.

planning is the easy part. in fact, its the worst part, because after over-planning (because planning is easy and can get way out of hand) comes the actual building of the map.

just a word of advice, be aware of the amount of work your planning gets you into!

i know i have spend many hours building what i planned and had hoped i started a much simpler map!

I have ended MANY maps I never really posted. I put together pieces of those cancelled maps which created kinda this map I have right now. 20% of the buidlings were added without having to modify them as I already made them in another map.

I had to many plans too but I finally got it all figured out :D

But thanks for the advice doomguy

it is easy to have good ideas , i feel

this for myself.

But making them alive is another thing.

Also considering the amount of time

you have to spend on it accordingly

with constant motivation is important.

I like your sketches, keep em simpleand remember what was your first idea or

Don ´t be scary to remove some stuff

cause creation is evolving with time.

Also i had some nice idea, i was thinking

of Dying Light game quests and i thought

that devs did not go deep in quest enough, i mean once you have the pitch,

you have to kill someone or trigger

something then, the quest is done and you never felt any emotion.

So my idea is to start a quest as an adventure, a single adventure, short

but really detailed and immersive as a man asking you help and you accept

but you have to face something , you want

to know this man, you want to help him,

you want to go deeper.

So my idea is kind of a qalking dead

episode where you meet the black guy

with traps everywhere and he is a little

bit angry and...

Yep cr. I started feeling that too. Quests are kinda superficial. You have to be really creative to build interesting quests with the triggers we have in the tools. Its always flip this switch or get a key. Im struggling with this on my new map. I feel i have to really work on the story so the triggers and objectives arent repetitive. Theres a good map that uses story and available triggers really well. "All i need is a baseball bat". One objective is drink a glass of alchocol. Its a great quest map.

Btw op hows the map going. Any chance you publish an alpha version so we explore?

Those sketches look like a few sheets of paper i have myself. But i usually do less drawing and more writing about objectives, story, backstory, motivations, etc. But thats me. Im a story mode player haha

The map is doing well. I don't want a simple quest map thing. I want it to be new, packed with surprises, open and fun.

I was planning on releasing an alpha, though the map just isn't ready yet. Missing houses, empty buildings and some streets don't have a single bit of decoration yet.

But you may expect an alpha.

Progress isn't as fast as before due to some other important things, but it is and will never die!

Yep, writing is something I love to do and I have a little more detailed sketches almost full drawings of scenes and the way I want them to look like. I am a story player myself :)
