Improving The Ranking System For Nh's

Or - this reminds me of how some game developers deal with cheaters - Techland makes it so that whenever a player attempts to use an item from a duped stack (taking into account your hypothetical suggestion), the item/stack explodes and damages the player, maybe also drawing in Virals! X3 Think of it as something similar to what CD Project Red did in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt when they find out that players would farm money and experience points by killing a couple of cows in White Orchard, and then meditating to make the cows respawn, and the player would repeat the process. CD Project Red fixed this in a rather silly, though effective way by making a high level Chort enemy spawn and attack the player whenever they attempted to use that farming method! Just sorta giving my 2 cents. :3

There's also been some other significant changes aswell. Such as spit smashes making spit effects last around twice as long.

Yes, actually. It's been a mechanic ever since the release of Dying Light Enhanced Edition and The Following DLC. If ya you need further proof, just check near the beginning of this thread; I think Pete Donnelly has it mentioned in one of the patch notes.

Same thing with explosive arrows, except explosive arrows also create a huge chupacabra cloud of particles that are absolutely blinding!

Hey guys! I erm, found something else out about the method I discovered about how you can invade players through the Dying Light community/group, and apparently, you can invade people that have their games set to friends only...

Glad I could be of some help. Finding a single match is almost impossible most of the time. And yeah, I've been noticing a ton of those "ghost players" lately, with the constantly changing player counts. I really wonder what's causing it. I love your videos, by the way, Dr. Purrington! X3

Interesting. As for my method, I have no idea what level they could be. I could end up joining a baby or a complete team of Ultimate Survivors (which would be awful for me, considering I'm only about midway through mutation 2.)

I actually found a very simple solution, though, I'm certain it's only really applicable to PS4, but maybe also on Steam. I remembered that on the official Dying Light Community on PS4, you can see all the players currently in a joinable game. From there, you just select "Join" on any player, and the game will attempt to connect you to them. I managed to find a match within 5 minutes. The only times it didn't work were when I unknowingly attempted to join someone who had invasions off or if it already had a hunter in there. It's a bit of a trial-and-error thing, but it works a chupacabra lot quicker than having to spam the refresh button over and over again until you can maybe find someone that doesn't already have a hunter, or they abort, or it's unable to connect, etc. I found this out today and was able to find matches very quickly!

I believe Pete Donnelly has answered the question about why tendrils doing damage is a bad idea, or something like that, way earlier in this topic. As for the ground pound without clawing first, I don't think there's any way around it, and I think techland made that as an intended thing, though I don't see why.

A Night Hunter's Way To Counter Dropkicks

I've been thinking a bit about this lately, and I was wondering "What if the Night Hunter could counter dropkicks in a way similar to how humans evade tackles?" My idea for this is that while you're in the animation lock as a human is right about to dropkick you, you could sort of counter-attack by pressing a certain button/key (let's use the melee button for example and for future reference), it would go into an animation where the NH would grab the midair survivor by his ankles and slam him into the ground, canceling out the dropkick and maybe damage the survivor a little, or maybe something that would throw the survivor behind you. (Also, I think it'd be pretty funny to just grab a survivor like that and just sorta go like "Nope!" and slam him onto the ground onto his back or throw him into spikes behind you.). But of course, it could only be done when a survivor attempts a dropkick in front of you, like with how humans can evade a tackle from the front, but not from the back. This is just a little suggestion of mine, and I don't expect that it'd get implemented in the actual game any time soon, but I wanted to give my two cents and see what others have to think! EDIT : I realize that the NH's tackle can now beat out dropkicks, but I've never seen that happen yet. Mostly because when I go to attempt a tackle, survivors stop trying to run at me for a dropkick and instead spam dodge back. Any other situation where I can't attempt it is because there's usually a source of UV light or two keeping my energy fully drained, thus unable to sprint and reduced to a snail's pace and completely vulnerable to anything and everything, especially dropkicks, and most of the time, you can barely ground pound them away before they dropkick you silly. :c

A Night Hunter's Way To Counter Dropkicks

Hmm, I see your point. I guess I never really thought of that because I still have a lot to learn, (and my mind was clouded by the memories of when teams of 4 humans would just dropkick me without mercy. Ugh.) that, and I'm not very good at landing those consecutive GP's. I was thinking of something that could help out those players that are still relatively low level NH's, but I never really thought about those Apex Predators that already know what they're doing. Anyways, it was interesting to see what you had to say, and thank you for saying it. ^^

A Night Hunter's Way To Counter Dropkicks

I was just using that as an example to lead up to my main point, it's not meant to be taken as the whole discussion. And by "one person," I meant most people in general, and the things they say. I didn't mean it as if the dev's advice is any less significant.

    Post Your Btz Matches!

Dude, you're not just being rude to DrPurrington, you're being rude to others as well. I'm not sure what happened over in that comment section, but that sure as hell isn't an excuse to have this whole "eye for an eye" mindset and be rude to anyone, and it certainly isn't going to get you anywhere. We should keep these forums friendly and not let them devolve into mindless, unnecessary insults towards each other. You're acting as if Dr.P was intentionally trying to give everyone here malicious advice, when really, the advice he has to offer is actually useful!

Final And Imo Most Balanced Few New Skills For Nh

Interesting ideas, really! Though some sound kinda crazy or silly, but still interesting to think about! X3 I made a thread suggesting a skill the NH could get that he could use to counter dropkicks. Check it out if you're interested or wanna comment on it!

A Night Hunter's Way To Counter Dropkicks

I'm not sure. That's a pretty good point. I mean, there's always that one person trying to defend things like that saying things like "Oh, you shouldn't have let yourself get under the survivor in the first place, duh. UV block and pounce midair." as if we always have a UV block handy with us at all times and the survivor isn't constantly focusing his light on us. Same thing goes for dropkicks. "Just spit at them or UV block or spit smash and get away." Anyways, what I'm trying to say is, the "solutions" that the majority of people suggest are usually so situational and aren't always applicable to hunters. Not every NH knows better, and not every time do we have the utilities necessary to prevent such situations where we would otherwise be doomed to die because of a single minor mistake on our part that could only prevented if the survivor makes several mistakes. If we have no spits available, or no UV blocks, then is it just "Oh well! Sucks to be you! You made a slight error so now you've gotta be punished with little to no chance that you'll get outta there alive." because it sure seems like it. Why must the NH have to be so skilled and require every little specific detail in order to stop something that the survivor requires little to no skill that he just pulls out of his chupacabra, and just the press of a few buttons in order to accomplish!? It's absurd!

There Should Be No Instant Healing Medpacks For Survivors On Normal

To be fair, he did say he had 40 hours and knew at least something about the gamemode. It's not like he said "I have 40 hours as the Night Hunter, so that makes me the best at this game and no one will ever be better than me." Also, 40 hours isn't just playing yesterday... no one plays a game for 40 hours straight. He has obviously been playing over the course of months or weeks and has most likely been learning more about it in between and during playing sessions.

Btz Win Rate - Is It Really 50/50?

Wow. Interesting points, really! I would love to see your ideas implemented in the game. They're not just straight up buffs to the NH, and that's great too.

I found a bug the other day when I had invaded someone in the Slums. Everything was normal until my hunter first spawned in the map. Instead of falling from the sky nearby the freeway or the usual spot,I spawned on the awning of a random building that was somewhat near the giant bridge. I noticed that all my HUD was entirely gone, and that the NH's arms weren't showing, though when I used tendril locomotion, the tendrils would show without the arms. When I howled, nothing would show anywhere in sight. I went to send a message to the guy I invaded that my game was broken so I was gonna leave, but after I went back into the game, I wasn't even able to look around or open the start menu. Shortly after, everything finally loaded in, and I ended up spawning in the usual spot and was able to play a normal game. This was on PS4.

The Truth About The Night Hunter: A Story Waiting To Be Unfolded

Keep in mind that The Mother wasn't able to control herself when in the darkness. She most likely didn't have any sort of human consciousness while in that state as well, so the same thing could very well apply to Crane, but we don't know for sure considering the screen went to black, but from hearing the Night Hunter's howl, it's pretty much very heavily implied that Crane lost control of himself and most likely killed those children and their mother in that parking lot! :3

It would be so awesome if you could customize the look of the NH. Maybe you could earn certain outfits by completing tasks like getting 'x' amount of successful pounces, for example.

My god, thank you so much for mentioning this. I was so annoyed earlier because every other match I would join would always have a group of survivors in a single building where the only entrances are blocked by those survival packages. Mostly, they do it in the building where you have to turn on the power in the "First Assignment" mission and you encounter your first Goon,I think,it seems near where the Hunter spawns in the Slums. They absolutely refused to leave and wouldn't play the actual game. I'm glad others have taken notice to it and this forum exists! People become so intent on "trolling" the Night Hunter nowadays that it's difficult to find a match where people actually wanna have a good, honest round against a Night Hunter.
