When are we going to hear about his side of the story? Considering how close and passionate we all have been to the hunter. It needs certain character added to it!

Can u guys at Techland come out with something good about the hunter's previous background and how he develops into the monster that we all care about?

It can be told in many ways. One example is we the survivors need to collect scattered notes or voice recordings or both (of someone describing the event or the hunter's monologue prior to his transformation). Maybe u guys have better ideas but really, we need one good story for all the btz fans!

Damage of the mines vs Hunter have been reduced recently to 1/3 max damage with a falloff.  Also, shotgun damage was reduced.

The hunter is like a hitman, minus the stealth. so basically u go into a fight, do 1 or 2 fancy moves and run away (more than that usually u will die), then repeat the process.

A glass-cannon they say (but maybe chicken-cannon more precise? Cause i've been told that 'i keep running away after few attacks and couldn't stand my ground like what the survivors are doing'). Funny but that's how it works- admit it, It's an opportunistic chicken! Not some scary zombie that will strike fear into your heart, well unless you're a noob. Make peace with yourself and u will hv no problem with the hunter's weaknesses

Yeah like arkham knight's batmobile that can be called upon whenever u want it services!

Wait but batmobile is so badass that u can't even compare it with the buggy... hmm maybe several stations throughout the map to spawn the buggy? Something like the one in borderlands?

Or just don't lose it lol. I have been invaded several times where my buggy was not reachable or can't be used after it got stuck somewhere. Guess what, it's marathon time!

EnlightenMe reacted to Maverick-Werewolf in Please Continue Kyle Crane's Story (Spoilers For The Following!)
Hi, guys. This was a letter I mailed to Techland. I wish I hadn't abused the word "incredible" so much (and I've added a few more notes to the end), but I meant every word and everything I said still stands. I figured I would post it here, too, to try and make sure it gets seen by someone. I'm still really upset by what happened, and I deeply hope they don't leave things this way and they choose to continue the story, at least to end it on a hopeful note (for Kyle and others), more like the original game's ending. I'm looking forward to more Dying Light story content, and I hope it happens.

Here's the letter, for anyone interested, with my signature removed:

I am a huge fan of Dying Light. I've been a fangirl of Dying Light since before it was released. Roger Craig Smith, one of my very favorite actors, talked to me on Twitter about the game when it was coming out. Him starring in it was what sold me on buying it, but I stayed for everything. Truly, this game knocked me off my feet. I didn't expect such an incredible gameplay experience. Everything about the game captures me. The atmosphere, the gameplay, the art, the music - and, of course, the writing, story, and characters.

I immediately fell in love with your protagonist in particular, Kyle Crane. He's so relateable and lovable, he's a wonderful jerk with a heart of gold, and he always says just what I'm thinking. I simply adore his character and, as an aspiring writer myself, his character and his interactions in the story and with the world have inspired me greatly.

However, to be frank, I was utterly devastated by the end of The Following. I kind of saw it coming, but I was hoping I was wrong. So, I beseech you: please don't let this be the end of Kyle Crane's story. Please. It isn't Dying Light without Kyle Crane. There's still incredible potential with this story. Playing as Kyle while he's a sentient volatile (even the Night Hunter, you know, so his face doesn't get totally messed up) could be an incredibly unique gaming experience in so many ways, and it could be an incredibly unique story as well.

I truly adore every aspect of Dying Light, but the story and the characters (Kyle in particular) is what kept me coming back and what made me play the game in its entirety over four times in a few months (I bought it on two platforms as well, the original game and all the DLC, and I've convinced many friends to buy it as well based on my high praises).

So, again, I'm begging you all: please don't let Kyle's story end like this. The ending of the first game was deeply moving to me, especially in a time of my life when I was going through hardships of my own. Somehow, seeing Kyle conquer all odds, watching the ending with hope for a cure, with the hero staying with his friends, the hero defeating the villain - it inspired me. The ending of The Following upset me deeply. I would love, however, to see a happy ending still come from this. Kyle has a chance to redeem himself, even if his form is mutated. There's still hope for a cure. He can control himself, like the Mother could, and thus he has potential to still help people and fight for his friends. Even, later in the story, he could find a cure and become himself again, instead of having to stereotypically sacrifice himself or devolve into a monster. Endings like those are becoming increasingly overdone, and Dying Light has the chance to be unique (again; it already has before).

I know this thing has gotten very lengthy, and for that I apologize. I cannot deny the incredible passion I feel for Dying Light, its setting, its story, and all its aspects. I want more Kyle Crane in my life. I want to see is story end well for him. I want to see his incredible struggle, be with him every step of the way, guide him through more of your incredible stories in this incredible world. I love Dying Light. It's one of my favorite games of all time (and I've been a gamer all my life). It's left a lifelong impression on me as a gamer and as someone who wants to become a storyteller someday. Dying Light is a beautiful experience. It's more than just a game.

I sincerely hope that, in the future, you consider continuing to let us play as Kyle and tell more stories from his point of view. He's a wonderful character and, to me, this amazing setting would never be the same if we didn't play as him the entire time.

I could continue to sing the praises of Dying Light and prostrate myself before you to beg for mercy for Kyle (and to beg to let us all continue playing as him). I truly feel that his story is not over, nor does it have to be over. I look forward to all the stories left with this protagonist and this setting in this beautiful game.

The way I see it, there are multiple possibilities for handling what happened to Kyle in the ending where he didn't just sacrifice himself...

He could be a sentient zombie, like a Night Hunter (or a volatile but hopefully without those mandibles). He could be slowly mutating more and gain more abilities over time, but he isn't completely inhuman, and he's still largely in control of himself. Maybe he's still slowly mutating more, so it gives a reason to still have the zombie seizures and keep the antizin and stuff (since I loved that element, personally), and still keep that desperation. However, since the Mother never mutated to a point where she lost her intelligence, it makes sense that Kyle wouldn't, either.

The whole thing could've been one giant hallucination. That one would be pretty easy to explain, because - frankly - I initially thought it was. I still really hope it was. Did the Mother even really force enough of the liquid down his throat for it to matter? It sure didn't look like much. Why would he change so fast? Why would he change at all, with that small amount? He certainly doesn't have to. It could've been a hallucination. But maybe, since he did get a small amount of the liquid in his system, he could be mutating faster now. Has more zombie seizures, gives an even more desperate reason to find more antizin and other ways to stave the virus off, etc. But he'd still be human, and under that same threat (I love the zombie seizures in the original game, I'd hate to see them leave).

There are other different ways it could be handled, but I would really hate for this to be the end of Kyle Crane's story. Techland had something truly great going with Dying Light and with Kyle Crane. I hope they don't end it in this way and they choose to pursue unique paths to a more unique (and happy, preferably involving Kyle getting cured or at least left alive and hopeful and searching for a way, like the struggle to maintain antizin while trying to find a cure in the end of the original game, which I thought was a wonderful ending). No matter how they choose to continue Kyle's story, if they do, it'd become a unique experience in multiple ways. I already find Dying Light unique, but they've opened up even more interesting and unusual paths to explore - things gaming hasn't done before. They could break new ground in the zombie genre.

I need more Dying Light in my life - and it isn't Dying Light unless we get to play as Kyle Crane.

I have to agree with the ease of access for the survivors when getting out of the buggies.  I believe the best idea was to also make the NH let go when the survivor exits and I believe this is a good idea.  Its painful to be in the middle of an animation trying to smash them while they jump out and just UV your chupacabra and waste a UV protect.  It also brings in more to the fact that at this point its easier to just get in front of them and GP the buggy for a flip and wait till they exit for an easy pounce or spit while they're getting out and chupacabra their world up.

However, buggies seem to be a death sentence if a well placed GP is done instead of grappling on.  Flip the damned thing over and spit UV on em.  If they get out then good, easy pounce.  If not, then a quick horde spit will do the job.  I believe trying to grapple is just not going to be an option unless they change a few things, and where's the fun in that?

An issue I have with BTZ in the new game though is the fact that you can just ram into most of the nests with your buggy and be done with it.  Doesn't seem like a very fair match at that point, so much so that I've seen survivors literally throw a flare at the nest, get in their car, and then continually ram the nest, without flinching since they have UV lights on the buggy, UV in their hand, and flares out the chupacabra.

Which brings me to the last thing, UV and survivor sense.  As it was just stated, the single survivor has 3 lights he/she can rely on, without much worry if one gets hit as long as they all don't get hit at the same time.  Yes, this can be somewhat countered but then again, open field, survivor sense that can detect NH anywhere within range and UV lights with a good enough range to make sure you can't even get a pounce off.  Basically the game is going to see a lot more GP's, tackles, UV lights, and a NH that will be causing dizziness while circling you to get the light down.  There won't be anymore stealth from either side and its sad to see that wasted because so many people complain about it and don't attempt to use their other senses to play the game.

Right! we need a new patch to add more screws in the game! Though it sounds funny it is not!

Why Techland doesn't allow us to scavenge screws from abandoned vehicles that are literally scattered around countryside?! Then it would be easy for us to repair our buggies. Wait u say what? .....

I agree, the glitches that i encountered (there are few of them) happen after the recent updates.

My friend also complaint the same problem where the nests instantly get destroyed as what we have seen in the video above. In my game, the word 'amount' keep flashing (on and off) until the match ended (it appears near the nest bar), all nests get frozen even after u hit them (not moving at all although this is just the visual that was affected), the nests get destroyed very fast with shotgun, biters was hanging mid air and other weird stuff.

There are probably other glitches that are not reported. I hope u guys can fix these soon

EnlightenMe reacted to Nipple in The Zombie And Survivor Balance
Before reading, please take note this is my first post on this forum, and I made an account simply to express my opinion on the pvp aspect of dying light. I think Btz is an awesome gamemode regardless. (it does evolve better than evolve) But I feel some changes are in order
.  I have been playing a fair share of battles - both as a survivor and a night hunter, and it's become apparent to me how unbalanced the game is in the survivors favour. This is coming from a relatively unbiased point of view, as I enjoy playing as the hunter and the survivor.

I could write 10 pages worth of text as with different scenarios I've encountered which has left me puzzeled. But I will keep it short and to the point with what is (IMO) the problems with the game mode.

    Melee combat

In dying light, the Hunter is penalized and punished for mistakes made in the melee department. While the Survivor meets punishment to a much less of an extent

    comparison 1

Night hunter: If a night hunter misses a ground pound, you are pretty much guaranteed a death against a relatively skilled player, the 3 hit quota is very much used up by the time the animation is finished.

Human: if the human tries and fails a drop kick attack (which in most cases hits because of the magnetism in the game, on par with death from above) there is very little chance the survivor will die from that mistake, as the hunters melee attacks are weaker and slower.

    Comparison 2

Night hunter: Against experienced players, a night hunters attempted tackle is usually met with eating dirt and general dismay, and attempting to kill a human with chaining tackles is not really an option.

Human: should the survivor attempt a drop kick on a night hunter, it will undoubtedly hit, even if the night hunter jumps beforehand to avoid the attack the strong gravitational pull of the attacks will most likely pull the night hunter back into the games desired position. and if one drop kick wasn't enough, it's not really a problem. Because for the humans the drop kick is in every right unavoidable and very much repeatable until the night hunter is no more.

Now a few people and the devs would argue "oh, nipple. The night hunter is made for stealth and not close quarters, you are not supposed to go toe-to-toe with humans"

With your spits used up (which boasts an impressive 90 second(!) recharge time 1v1) and missed due to survivors excessive dodge range & speed,(on a side-note I experience roughly 1/2 of my spit sticks arent detected, maybe due to some invincible frames happening when humans dodge or use medkit?) and your UV depleted because 3 seconds of UV light will leave you limping. What is left to do for the night hunter? melee attacks.  and with what I stated above combined with UV light spamming from 1-4 survivors; you do the math.

The way it stands now, unless the hunter is willing to delve into melee combat there is not really a viable way for the hunter to combat decent - skilled survivor players. I understand the humans are supposed to have the melee advantage, and the night hunter is supposed to have the stealth advantage, But the survivor gets the melee advantage, and the hunter gets nothing. As they always have the tag on you with constant survivor sense tracking. plainly redicoulus UV range, their very own tendril locomotor in the form of a grappling hook. and the camouflage skill, which I feel would be better suited as a hunter tool.

As the balance is quite delicate in multiplayer games, here are a few suggestions:

    - make the survivor sense, give the direction of the hunter, and make it a cool down. not a long one, but something around 5-10 seconds.
    - give the night hunter a faster spit recharge
    - give the uv-light a shorter range, like 30-40% reduction.
    - give uv light shorter duration

    Thanks for reading!

Yeah this theory has been around for sometimes piltdown. But u see, the night hunter is there while crane is doing his chores throughout the game.

U want to hear something more interesting? What if the night hunter is AMIR, Amir Ghoreyshi. Yeah u heard that right. We think that he's gone in the early game but maybe he's not. There's a lot of potentials!

    1. He was the first GRE agent sent to Harran, so i suppose he possesses similar skills and training as Crane. Your point about his super sense and athletic  can fit here.
    2. We know he used to be close with Jade before Crane comes to Harran! This could be develop into a good story. How he sacrifice himself for Crane and Jade and later re-animated, but still retain some of his human quality and intelligent.
    3. He found out how Crane was trying to get close/ become emotionally attached to Jade- made him jealous and enrage (optional)
    4. The fact that Crane failed to protect Rahim and Jade (amir was close to jade so rahim should be the same) cause his anger to explode and this develops him into this new monster called the Night Hunter!  (He could slowly evolve from normal biter to the current night hunter either by mutation triggers by intense hatred/ anger or consuming bolter and other stronger zombies in DL lore).
    5. He keeps haunting Crane for his past mistakes and swear to avenge the death of his loved ones!

Walla... What do u guys think?

p/s: well they could come up with other story but just include the emotional part in it so that we really feel close and attach to this guy. Make it as a new short dlc with a good story and gameplay. Techland i would pay for this sh*t!

Hi Pete, regarding this 3rd pool- assuming that it consist of higher rank players that have high win to loss ratio. Will the stats from aborted games be counted too?

The reason i ask this because i believe that the win/ loss ratio will be much lower that the 60-40 u mentioned earlier for the coming elite pool. With the current 2 pools system, the latter one counts for both average and elite players and many of the average players also have their own dedicated groups (3-4 players). So i'm sure that most of the 40% win ratio achieved by the hunters come from this group.

Don't think so? Well MANY high rank hunters (not all) tend to abort the game if they don't stand any chance against their opponents- probably because they don't see the point to continue the game or don't want to rank down (yes, a group of elite survivors is less likely to abort from my exp).

So my concern is that if the stats from aborted games are not counted i.e. kills/ death ratio for hunter/ survivors, etc., the win/ loss ratio alone may underrate the difficulty that the hunters have to face when fighting against 3-4 elite survivors. Maybe u guys already have other better indicators that i'm not aware of, my apology for that.

Anyway, the addition for the elite pool is very much welcome and appreciated as it can help improve the current game's balance design

    1. Nests in general should take a bit more time to destroy post patch. There are a couple of exploits currently that allow them to be killed too quickly.  Also, if the Hunter is falling behind, the Nests will pose a greater challenge to destroy than usual.
    2. "This new spit is all but pointless if it never connects" This is true for every skill each player has on both sides!  It takes 'skill' to use your tools effectively!  There are plenty of setups to allow you to land successful spits!  Don't just throw them out there and hope for the best!
    3.  This is fully intentional gameplay.  You need to think more strategically about your pounces if this is happening to you a lot.  Setting up attacks on the Hunter by encouraging a poorly placed pounce and then interrupting it is a valid strategy that many skilled Survivors use.  Some will stand in front if spikes and wait to bait out a pounce...or maybe on top of a lamp post.  It's up to you to be aware of your surroundings.  You have control over when/where you decide to pounce. Choose other attacks if you see Survivors trying to bait a pounce to put you in a bad situation.
    4. All Virals in BTZ are tied to attacking nests... whether you shoot them or hit them with melee.  Gun damage vs Nests has also been reduced post patch.  They are really only good for finishing off a "low health" Nest or a "nearly dead" Hunter that is trying to flee.
    5. These are interesting ideas!  I like the idea of regen buffs tied to certain actions.  I can tell you there will be some adjustments with the Hunters skill regen post patch.

    1. Get really good with it - u will start tearing survivors apart including the good one but still, u'll need the second part to win the game
    2. LUCK! (obviously)

but hey if u are a good hunter ppl will recognize ya and compliment your skills (even though u hardly win against them LOL).

I don't know it's by design or an exploit.  Humans are able to attack in such rapid succession that it seems like a OHK.  The "normal" three swings are fast enough.  But it seems like swing, swing, kick is even faster.  I had a guy pull, I think, a slide, swing, kick so fast it was essentially a OHK.  Combine that with the vulnerability of 0% UV stamina and continues be UVed, the GP won't initiate, you're pretty much dead zombie walking, thus a death, and thus a lost nest.

The NH has no such attach that can be followed up with another attack so quickly.  Sometimes I can pull of a GP and pounce, but most melee attacks push the human away from you and it takes time to charge the next attack.  So, the pounce is the only attack that can quickly follow another attack--and then it's easy thwarted with UV.

Is there going to be a change in the reviving of humans in matches with two or more players?  I work hard for those kills only have them taken away because I have another human or two on my back to kill me or force me to retreat so they can revive the corpse of my prey.  It's hard enough with more than one player only to be handed another disadvantage.

    Hey Everyone!
We are working hard to get BTZ completed for "The Following" release and are diligently squashing any bugs we may find.  The problem is, we may not always catch them all and that's where we could use your help!  This post here is where I'd like everyone to write about any bugs, glitches or exploits they may have come across while playing BTZ.  Let us know about them now so we can do our best to kill 'em off in time for The Following!

Here a list of some things that I can already to you are fixed/tuned for BTZ in general when 'The Following' releases.

    1. Fixed an issue with the Shield negating stuck spits.
    2. Bullet damage to Nests reduced
    3. 2 Handed Heavy damage to Nests reduced
    4. Tackle Damage to Nests reduced
    5. Hunters "UV Heal" skill is much quicker (I really like this one...it allows for some new tricks)
    6. Survivors flare cooldown cost is only applied if the flare was successfully thrown
    7. Grappling hook cooldown cost increased

Whether someone is good or not is subjective. Skill shouldn't be used to determine balance, that should be based on what's possible in the current meta for both sides. And currently survivors have the advantage although that gap has been shortened greatly since the release of the game.

Spit slams are not at all unfair. Consider how much it takes just to get one. In 1v1 setting it takes almost 2 minutes to regenerate one spit. That's about 4 minutes total of not using spits before a spit slam is even possible. Given how difficult it is to fight without spits and how long you have to wait I'd say it's a fair tradeoff for a garuanteed kill. Look at death from above in comparison, you only need to be bus height level in order to pull it off and it's an unblockable instant kill against the night hunter with a fair amount of magnetism. Also In a match with more than one player you always have someone watching your back so it becomes more difficult to get a spit slam off unless you get everyone at once.

Ground pound after a miss tackle or pounce was something that recently got added. It used to be pretty stupid when things like this happened, you were basically dead if you miscalculated any pounce or tackle.

Survivors can be aggressive without being stupid. The ones who rush headfirst without thinking are usually the ones to turn around and complain about the night hunter being OP. They die because they do stupid things like jump off a bridge trying to DfA a night hunter while he's in their blind spot (I get kills like this all the time).

Yes I also agree the UV light is fine now. I'm amazed people are complaining about it when it was 10x times worst just before the last patch (here too). At least now there's a startup cost and increased recovery. The most recent range nerf allows you to stay perched on top of buildings without having a UV light from street level push you away. You can now stalk properly.

But the Night Hunter going down in 3 Hits regardless of how many players are in the Game, that seems a little unfair to me.

I feel the Night Hunters health should scale with the amount of Humans He is up against.
