Hanging Corpse

Hey guys!

 

I'd like to ask whether it is possible to make a hanging dead body?

I've seen it in the main game in the Slums, in OT and even in the DLC as far as I remember.

Yet I cannot find any solution - mine either falls immediately on the ground

or it is just 'standing' in the air unrealistically, or even disappears if I get

too close.

 

I couldn't find any hint neither here nor in the steam forums about this topic. :(

How are you creating the dead body?

 

Totally wrong I guess  :D

 

First I insert an NPC (Assets -> Object Types), choose the skin, then I change it's class in the Attributes menu to DeadRagdoll.

I tick m_EnableWakeUp and m_EnableOnAppear.

In the Attributes window, under the Field tab I change m_PhysicsScript to ragdoll_ai_hanging.phx.

 

...and actually I'm stuck at this point. I see it's not enough. If I leave these options this way, the body falls on the ground when I touch it.

It also has a weird looking pose like simply standing in the air. Not even close to the one in the main game.

I tried to attach the deadguy to the rope as well (parent field) but he keeps falling down, so it's clearly not working.

 

I don't even have the slightest clue what to do or whether I'm trying it the right way but missing just a small detail, or am I doing it completelly the wrong way.  :wacko:

well, i guessing by the lack on answer not many people know how to do this, and it doesn't surprise me due to the lack of information for the dev tools.

its a matter of testing.

what mesh did you use for the npc? and what skin?

and, i think m_enableWakeup has to do with become enabled when touching it, try disabling the wakeup option

 

edit:

 

put zombie_man_a.msh on the stage, untick "no animation", go to the anim tab and maybe you can find a hanging animation

or look for a dead pose similar to hanging

 

i don't know if the zombie will be static though, or move it you bump into it..

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately I had no time to deal with this problem recently, coulnd't even develop my map further,

but I'll try this out shortly!
